What kind of training will I need to skydive?

Very little training is required for tandem jumps because you will be with a professional instructor. You’ll be good to go after about a half hour.

A four to six-hour ground class will prepare you for your first accelerated freefall skydive solo. See our page for details.

How fast and long will I fall?

We fly to 12,500 feet,and your freefall from that altitude will last just under a minute. Once the parachute opens, you’ll have about five minutes to take in the view before landing.

How long will my jump take?

Plan on the whole day for your first AFF jump. Plan on 1-4 hours for tandem jump.

What should I wear?

Comfortable, well fitting (closed-toe) gym shoes, and casual, loose-fitting clothing. Jeans are okay. Sweats or shorts, according to the season. We furnish you with a jumpsuit, goggles, gloves and all necessary skydiving equipment.

Is there an age limit?

Yes. You must be 18 years or older. There is no upper limit as long as you're healthy!

Do I need a reservation?

Yes, call Skydive Taft anytime to make a reservation at 661-765-5867 or email us at info@skydivetaft.com. We require a $50 deposit per person. We accept debit, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express.

Can I change my mind?

We never force anyone out of an airplane. If you decide against jumping at the last second, we’ll take you safely back down to the ground in the plane. But this the only time people ever have regrets about their experience!

Can my friends and family watch me skydive?

Yes, we land right at the airport and have an area where they can watch you land.

Are there weight limits?

Yes, 240lbs for tandem jumps and 230 lbs. for AFF jumps. There is $20 fee if you are over 200lbs, and $30 fee if you are over 230lbs (for tandems).

What if it rains or is too windy?

AFF students will complete the classroom portion of their training, regardless of the weather. Tandems are simply rescheduled for another date.

I received my training and did not get to jump due to weather. When can I jump?

Anytime during our normal business hours or by appointment.

When is Skydive Taft open?

We are generally open for skydiving from 8am until sunset, Friday to Sunday. We are occasionally also open during the week, so please call and check! We are also here 7-days a week to take appointments and answer questions over the phone.

Can I get licensed?

Yes, Skydive Taft will train you from your first jump through your expert license and beyond. The road to being a licensed skydiver starts here

Can my friends and family watch me skydive?

Yes, we land right at the airport and have an area where they can watch you land.

Do you have camping facilities?

Yes, we have a place to set up tents, to park RVs (no hookups) and shower/bathroom facilities.

Are pets allowed?

Yes, but they must be on a leash.

Do you have a picnic area?

Yes, we have picnic tables along with a BBQ and pool (in the summer) that you are welcome to
